Now that we’ve all finally experienced Gear Five, it’s time to start shopping around for all of the cartoony, Joy Boy merch.

Anyone caught up on and watching One Piece just got to Luffy’s legendary ‘Gear Five.’ And response has been mixed. The over-the-top cartoonieness didn’t sit well with all viewers. But I loved it. It felt like Eddie Valliant watching Rodger Rabbit’s shenanigans in toon town while trying to have his own serious mystery. Only in this case is was Kaido trying really hard to have an actual battle while Luffy went full Loony Tunes with it. Gear Five is pretty new and there isn’t a lot of merch yet, but let’s run through a few of the Gear Five things you can pick up right now.

1. This Deceptively Not Cartoonish Figure

As you may or may not be aware, there are a lot of One Piece Figures. It’s a couldn’t-even-imagine-collecting-all-of-that sort of number. And I have a shelf dedicated to various Straw Hats and friends (and enemies)! But this one is pretty neat. Luffy’s whole outfit and hair transform in Gear Five in a way that feels like a nod to Dragon Ball, and he’s looking pretty darn serious (for him) about his fight. I mean sure, it won’t last. But it makes for a cool figure.

2. Joy Boy Figure

This one, on the other hand, leans pretty hard in the other direction. Luffy is in a chibi form and doing the iconic laugh from lots of the Gear Five art. It’s also a little more than half the size of the previous figure at just under four inches. I love the use of clear plastic for his hair and wind in this one, and I bet it would look very neat with a backlight of some kind.

3. Luffy Art Canvas

Anime posters and wall scrolls are such a fun little thing to have. Even after I’d gotten past the ‘frameless posters’ time in my life, they were still perfect decoration for my cosplay space, and the small ones really perked up a few otherwise boring workspaces in a few otherwise boring jobs. Gear Five’s art is all very swirly, giving all of it the illusion of movement and a really fun softness that most shounen battles don’t incorporate a lot of. I just think it’s neat.

4. Luffy Backpack

Whether you’re going to class, a convention, your weekly D&D game, or just hanging out with people, I always have a reason to carry a backpack. They’re comfy, useful, and hold all of your stuff. Plus, this one has a USB charge port. The addition of Luffy on the front is sort of just a bonus.

5. Update Your Wanted Poster

The One Piece wanted posters are such an iconic piece of the show. From the friendly competition to see who’s worth the most, to Chopper’s absolute devastation to only be worth something like $10, they come up a few times and it’s always pretty fun. Plus, from the most important to the least seen, almost every character has one at one point or another. If you already have a Luffy poster, maybe it’s time to update it.

Oh hey! BoLS might make a little dolla-dolla if you decide to buy these items. We need that money to pay some pirate bounties.
